About Me

My Story

I was going to be an artist. I knew this since I was a small child. Color, flow, balance, danced in my head day in and day out. At the time, I had desired to be a famous Claude Monet or a Georgia O’Keefe. I could just see my paintings strung out through famous galleries in New York or LA, watching the people admire my beautiful works of art. That was the dream, my very vivid dream, that I hoped to one day make a reality.

Now, if I could only paint….

Several years later and a pretty much failed attempt at college art classes, I needed a new plan.

While sitting on my patio one day sipping coffee, staring at my pathetic, very colorless yard, it hit me. Colors, flow, balance, once again danced through my head. I couldn’t paint, but I could bring a Claude Monet to life using a different medium. Flowers. Back to school I went. Earning degrees in horticulture and landscape design/architecture.

TerraScapes was born a few years later with a focus on custom exterior designs. Not just landscape designs, but paintings for the yard. I wouldn’t just landscape, I would make that yard sing with color and texture, balance and flow. With that came the accessories, ooooohhh the accessories! Containers, arrangements or walls full of vibrant color that spilled out the sides, expressive works of art that captured each client’s individuality. This element of design was where I could fly. The yard would be my gallery.

It’s been 20 years since I figured out that art could come in a multitude of ways. Long since the days of me picking up a paint brush. TerraScapes has evolved with me as I’ve honed in on my specific skills and what I can provide to each of my clients. One thing, however, has always held true. I am an artist. An artist who isn’t confined to just paint on a canvas, my art is quite literally alive.
